About The Competition

The Ulster Bank Business Achievers Awards is about recognising the achievements of entrepreneurs in our local community. Regional awards will pay tribute to winners in each of the four provinces.

Entries are accepted in the following seven categories:

Environmental/ Sustainability Award

This category is for businesses who are involved in the growing environmental/ sustainability sector of our economy or for businesses who believe that their business adheres to best practice environmental polices, procedures and standards.

Community/ Social Entrepreneurship Award (including arts and crafts).

Judges will be looking to reward businesses in this category who have a firm focus on community and social development. This may be local charities, community groups or arts organizations who play an import role in fostering community spirit and growth.

Ethnic Entrepreneurship Award.
This award aims to recognize diversity in our business community across the island of Ireland by rewarding the ethnic entrepreneur who has successfully started and developed their own business.
Business Going International Award.

Being competitive on an international scale is important given the nature of our small open economy. This award recognizes the challenges of going international and will reward the business who is embarking and succeeding in this challenging area.

Family businesses face many challenges including increased international competition, changing technology, succession planning and challenging economic conditions domestically. The award winner in this category will be the business that epitomizes the characteristics of this important sector.

“One to Watch” Award.

This category is for businesses that have a strong growth potential. The winner may not be making a profit today, but the judges will be looking at a combination of what the business has achieved to date and the plans it has to expand, grow and develop in the future.
